Clinics & Services
Treatment Room
Experienced practice nurses are available in the treatment room for a wide range of services, including advice, dressings, removal of sutures, vaccinations and chronic disease management. Nurses are also available for minor illnesses. Please ask at reception for an appointment.
Family Planning
We offer appointments for all aspects of family planning and pre-conceptual advice with either the doctor or nurse - please ask at reception.
Child Health and Immunisation
Vaccinations are given by the nurses by appointment. It is very important we are able to offer your child protection against infectious diseases.
Diabetes
A clinic is run with the nurse in conjunction with the healthcare assistant. You will receive an annual review and the nurse will arrange additional appointments if required. For your annual diabetes check we require a blood test and urine sample 1 week before your review with the nurse.
Patients who have their own blood glucose-monitoring device are advised to bring their machine, test strips and any medication with them to the review appointment in order that it can be checked by the nurse.
Coronary Heart Disease Prevention
We are currently working to reduce the incidence of coronary heart disease and are targeting specific patients who are thought to be at greater risk of developing the disease - if you have a family history of heart disease or strokes, please let the doctor or nurse know.
If you suffer from chronic coronary conditions you may be called for an annual healthy heart review.
Asthma
We offer appointments with a specially trained practice nurse for the management of asthma. You should be reviewed at least once a year if you suffer from asthma and should bring all your current medications and inhalers to your appointment. Failure to attend regular asthma reviews may result in medications and inhalers being taken off your medications list.
Well Woman Checks
Appointments for cervical smears, HRT, contraception and the opportunity to discuss women's health are available throughout the week. Please ask for details at reception. North Devon offers routine cervical smears in accordance with national guidelines, with reminders being sent from the age of 20-65. However if you have any concerns, please ask to speak to one of the nurses. Although the nurses do not examine breasts they will teach you how to check yourself and the problems to identify.
Minor Surgery

In order to have a minor surgery procedure you must be reviewed by your GP who will make the necessary referral.
